4th Annual Vettes in the Valley Corvette Show

The 4th Annual “Vettes in the Valley” Corvette Show was held at the Maggie Valley Festival Grounds on May 24 & 25, 2008. The event attracted over 300 Corvettes and registrants from 12 states. The show included class judging, as well as, Participants and Peoples Choice Trophies. Every spectator will receive a ballot so they can vote for their favorite Corvette. There will be entertainment, vendors, raffles, door prizes, Corvettes for sale, a Poker Run Saturday afternoon and a Corvette Parade on Sunday afternoon. There are additional trophies for the Corvette Club that brings the most Corvettes; the Corvette that comes the farthest distance; Best Paint; Best Interior; Best Presentation and Most Patriotic. Two specialty trophies will be presented: The Mayors’ Trophy will be presented by Mayor Roger McElroy of Maggie Valley, to his favorite Corvette and the 2nd Annual Wade Reece Memorial Trophy will be presented in memory of Wade Reece, the founder of Smoky Events, by his wife Beth, to her favorite Corvette.
“Vettes in the Valley” is honored that the National Corvette Museum from Bowling Green, KY will send representatives to the show. They have always supported the show, but this is the first year they will attend. “It is like getting the Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval,” said Marion Hamel, President of Smoky Events.
The sponsors, Brookside Village in Maggie Valley – the title sponsor, RC Cola/Cheerwine, O’Reilly Auto, The Mountaineer, Blossman Propane, Kevin Whitaker Chevrolet, Kumho Tires, Corvette Enthusiast Magazine/Amos Automotive, Corsa Exhausts and Ghost Town in the Sky have generously provided products and services to make this a memorable event. Many local merchants have donated great door prizes and Duane Goins, the concert promoter, donated tickets to the Percy Sledge Concert. It was a great weekend. Come see us in Maggie.
